To welcome the era of new knowledge economy, starting from 2003
academic year, the Department of Applied Mathematics will begin
admitting students to three different academic tracks: Applied mathematics,
applied statistics, and financial mathematics.
To heighten the student’
level of competence and expertise, the department’s curriculum is
divided into four major concentrations: applied mathematics, applied
statistics, financial mathematics, and information-related subjects

Students
are expected to take training in foundational courses and , at the
same time, to develop background knowledge in information education
needed for today’s society.
Furthermore, to enhance
students’ competitiveness in job markets, the department encourages
student to take programs for double degrees, a minor, and other
pragmatic courses aimed to provide up-to-date information. |

In addition,
the department has set up an alumni contact network, so that more
employment information can be passed on.
Our graduates have a variety of career options such as financial administrators,
information engineers, programmers, actuaries, and risk managers as
well as the option to continue further study in postgraduate institutes
of mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial engineering
management, business administration, information technology, statistics,
insurance, finance and education.
